Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and was raised by the multiracial, mixed-ethnic family. Her father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother Kim is Malaysian. There are two older brothers, and two younger ones. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents relocated to Bahrain in the 80s as a result of the turmoil that occurred in Sri Lanka. In Australia she pursued a degree in Media and Communications at University of Sydney following her graduation from Bahrain. In order to further her passion for different cultures, languages and languages, she joined the Berlitz language schools where she was able to learn Spanish in addition to improving French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In the aftermath of winning the Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she took on the world of television and anchored a show about Sri Lanka's business, known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has had a childhood in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. As a teenager she competed in badminton at National level competitions. She later resigned her professional career in order to be a fashion model. Padukone is from Mangalore, and her mother language is Konkani. Her lineage is from Padukone village, which is located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the State of Karnataka, India. The father of her, Prakash Padukone, is an ex-badminton player with international repute, and her mother works as a travel agent.
