She was born on September 19, 1926 in Santa Rosa California and died in October 2000. The elevator operator was her profession before becoming an actress. Her parents worked as vaudeville actors. One of London's best known roles came starring as Dixie McCall, R.N. Emergency! between 1972 and 1978. From 1972 to 1978, she appeared in a variety of movies, among them The Fat Man (1951), in which she co-starred alongside Rock Hudson. Julie London starred in the 1957 film Saddle the Wind with Robert Taylor, John Cassavetes and Robert Mitchum. In 1959's The Wonderful Country she teamed together along with Robert Mitchum and Robert Taylor. Her albums were released in the 1950s and 1960s and her biggest hit song was "Cry me a river". London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in 1974 for Emergency!. She was engaged to Jack Webb from 1947 to 1954 and to Bobby Troup from 1959 to 1999. Julie London died on 18 October 2000, at the age of 74.
